About

Alex graduated Bray Institute of further Education with two films in competition at the Galway film fleadh. It was here that his documentary 'Christy' won 'Best short documentary'. Christy went on to receive further awards at the Cork international Film festival and the Belfast film festival. It was screened in festivals all over the world and was brought to several high profile film festival markets.

Following this he created and directed the web series 'Dublin Stories'. This marked the start of a long and fruitful collaboration with the comedy troupe 'Diet of Worms'. Dublin stories was picked up and developed into a half hour broadcast pilot by Ireland's national broadcaster RTE.

Later Alex directed a web series for Kerry Foods and the advertising agency DDFH&B called 'Taste of Home'. The series won a Silver Shark award at the Kinsale Shark advertising awards.

At the same time Alex started DLRCTV, a new comedy initiative that aimed to provide a platform for comedy writers, performers and directors to create and collaborate. DLRCTV is a fake community Television station with its own unique output.

More recently Alex has collaborated with Philippa Dunne and Niall Gaffney on a new comedy drama series called ‘Darkwater’. The series is currently in development with the RTE drama department.

Although comedy is Alex's true passion, he is equally at home when directing promotional content for brands such as O2, Smirnoff, Superquinn, Lucozade and the Irish Times.

He also retains a love of documentary and has several projects in different stages of development.
